Fake emails are transmitted on the internet that look like they are sent from various banks or financial institutions including urgent and vital information. Passolig never asks for password operations over email and never asks the personal information of its customers. For more information on Phishing please click.
What is Phishing?
Phishing attacks are the most widespread fraud in cybercrime that aims at stealing information from individuals or corporations to engage in financial transactions.
Scammers draft emails that look like they come from financial institutions in order to steal information from individuals or institutions and send these emails to all email addresses they can gather, asking customers to update the information and change the passwords on the financial institutions by sending a fake link including a copy of the websites of these institutions. When customers fail to realize that the emails come from fake websites and enter the demanded information, the scammers get hold of the personal information and passwords of customers.
Information stolen by phishing are account numbers, passwords, credit card numbers, debit card numbers and user codes.
Please always remember that Passolig will never send you emails that will require you to enter or change your password. Emails you receive from Passolig are entirely for information purposes. Therefore, if you receive an email that you suspect is a phishing attack, please call Passolig Call Center 0850 724 33 44 immediately to inform our bank of the situation
Another way to protect yourself from phishing attacks is to check whether the webpage you are processing is safe or not. The lock icon in on the bottom right of your internet browser demonstrates that you are on a safe website. Additionally, make sure the address in the address bar includes "https" because the "s" in the end is a sign that the website is safe. Still, it should be kept in mind that scammers might reproduce these signs. Typing the address in the address bar is the safest way. Frequently checking the websites you make financial transactions on will help you distinguish between fake and genuine emails you receive.
Phishing attacks might be used for money laundry. Fake business ads designed by scammers promising easy money are the most common method used. Scammers get hold of the account information of innocent people with this method and transfer the money they receive from Phishing attacks using these accounts. This way, they both steal money through Phishing and shift the blame on someone else.
